Preserving Fairmount
The Fairmount neighborhood is a very livable and high quality neighborhood. We are a mix of well established owner-occupied houses to students and young couples who rent. Each brings something to the neighborhood, from stability and perspective to energy and innovation. Mostly this creates a pleasant, safe, and quiet place to live. But sometimes students or landlords and homeowners clash. Here are some tips to help protect the quality of life within the neighborhood.
Communicate
Get to know your neighbors before any problems occur. Issues can be prevented when neighbors learn about each other and exchange contact information. Students may not realize they are living near small children with early bedtimes or retired grandparents. Letting students know you also helps them feel they are part of the neighborhood. Be sure to share your expectations and the kinds of activities that will trigger a call from you to the police.
When possible, get to know the owners or landlords of rental properties in your neighborhood. Help them to understand the common benefit to maintaining the quality and value of our Fairmount neighborhood.
Report Problems
If illegal activity is suspected, such as excessive noise, an unruly party, underage drinking, trespassing, and the like, please call the Eugene Police Department's non-emergency line at
541-682-5111
immediately. Do not let problems go unreported.
Visit our
Reporting Problems
